Suzuki Classes and Fees
Beginners
violin/viola/cello/piano/double bass/guitar
Violin, piano and cello students may begin at age 3. Viola students may begin at age 10. Learning the methods of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and others, students receive a 30-minute private lesson once a week focusing on technique and musicianship. All children enrolled in the Suzuki program are required to attend the 50 minute group class, which reinforces the private lesson material and introduces musical concepts such as rhythm, singing, listening skills and movement. Beginner parents must attend a 10-week parent course on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, starting the 1st Tuesday of the term.This class prepares the parent for home teaching and introduces the Suzuki philosophy.

Intermediate Students
(Books I-III) violin/viola/cello/piano/double bass/guitar
Having successfully completed the challenging beginning stages of instrumental study, your child continues to build their technique, musicianship and performance skills. Your teacher will recommend a 30 minute or 45 minute private lesson based on the student's skill level in the repertoire books. Students learn theory and aural skills (ear training) as part of their group lesson. Students of Books II-III may also register for optional special electives. Workshops and Master Classes by guest artists are also offered to intermediate students.

Advanced Students
violin/viola/cello/piano/double bass/guitar
As the intensity of their study increases, students are required to practice at least one hour a day. Private lessons are at least once a week and include scale studies, etudes, traditional as well as Suzuki repertoire and performance opportunities. Group class will review repertoire, technique and performance skills. Students are encouraged to register for the Advanced Chamber Ensemble elective.
60 minute private lesson and group class $880.00
Group Class (Not Optional)
All children enrolled in the Suzuki program are required to attend the weekly 50 minute group class.
Concerts
All students are expected to attend student concerts and teacher studio recitals as scheduled. Students are expected to perform at least two times a year.
Students transferring to the Suzuki Program must audition for placement.
20% OFF TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLIES TO THE STUDY OF CELLO AND VIOLA
Students may study a second instrument for $450. Student must be enrolled at HPSI for their primary instrument.
Students should discuss their desire to study a 2nd instrument with their instructor.
