About Me

Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, I began Suzuki violin lessons when I was 4 years old. I switched to viola around age 10 and am currently pursuing my masters degree in Viola Performance at DePaul University. I received my Bachelors degree from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. I have studied violin pedagogy through the Suzuki Institute of the Americas, Mimi Zweig at Indiana University, Olga Kaler at DePaul University, and Lucinda Ali-‐Landing at the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute. In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling.

My Method

I teach a combination of the Suzuki, traditional, and Paul Rolland methods. Here is a bit about  what I incorporate from each method for those interested:

Suzuki:
-‐Parental involvement
-‐Group instruction
-‐Learning by rote
-‐Providing a non-‐judgmental learning environment.

Traditional:
 -‐Left hand set up.
-‐Introducing supplemental learning materials (scales and etudes) at an early age to aid reading skills.

Paul Rolland:
 -‐Emphasis on balance and relaxation.
-‐Learning all techniques starting with the largest muscle group possible.

Location: KAM synagogue (E Hyde Park Blvd and University Ave)
Days: Tuesday and Saturday
Group Classes: Violin Books 3-4, Music Theory

Ms. Lucinda has some magic tricks that can keep young kids interested in violin playing, keep them focused during the lesson, and encourage them to practice at home.

My son's love for music was deepened through the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute program! He was nurtured with loving and patient teachers who encouraged and motivated him. This is a highly recommended Institute and the director's vision for her students is simply Amazing! Also the parents are very supportive to one another as well as to each other's children...such an AWESOME village for thriving children!
