Irene Claude, Flute
Irene Claude teaches flute for Hyde Park Suzuki Institute, as well as privately in her home studio. She is the adjunct flute instructor and flute choir director at Saint Xavier University, and a director/chamber music coach of the Music Teachers of Hyde Park Summer Ensemble Fest. She has taught flute for the DePaul University Community Music School, Merit School of Music, Music Institute of Chicago, Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians, Marian Catholic High School, and Joseph Sears Elementary School.
Irene is a member of the Lake Forest Symphony and is substitute flutist with other Chicago orchestras including Ars Viva, Chicago Master Singers, New Philharmonic, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. As a recitalist, she performs each season on the Music Teachers of Hyde Park Artist Series and Saint Xavier University Faculty Recitals. In addition to performing and teaching flute, Irene is Business Manager and Music Together teacher for Marsha’s Music. She has taught early childhood music and movement classes for Merit School of Music and was director of the St. Nicholas Children’s Choir.
Irene has a Master of Music Degree from DePaul University and a Bachelor in Musical Arts Degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She has completed Suzuki pedagogy studies in Books 1-5, and has Certification from Music Together, Orff Schulwerk, and Kodaly. She is a member of the Chicago Flute Club, Music Teachers of Hyde Park, National Flute Association, Suzuki Association of the Americas and the American Federation of Musicians.

My son's love for music was deepened through the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute program! He was nurtured with loving and patient teachers who encouraged and motivated him. This is a highly recommended Institute and the director's vision for her students is simply Amazing!
