Introduction to Theory (Mid-Book 1 to Book 2 Students, any instrument)
In this 12-week class, games and singing and theory puzzles combine to lay the foundation for a deeper musical understanding and eventual music reading. Done
in typical Suzuki-fashion, musical ideas are experienced first-hand, then named and notated. Students explore melody, rhythm, and are introduced to notation
and the staff. 4 student minimum.
Mondays 5:00
Music Theory 1 (Prerequisite: Introduction to Theory)
"Music Theory" is a fancy name for the study of written musical notation. In the Suzuki Method, students begin their musical studies with ear training, technique, and hours of listening. Once they have a musical understanding and are set-up well technically on their instrument (usually Books 2+), they are ready for a deeper study of how music is written down.
In "Music Theory 1" students go over sharps, flats, naturals, and the C, G, D, and F scales with their triads, degrees, and intervals. Non-piano students learn basic piano as part of their theory instruction.
Wednesdays 6:00
